IRO reception to honour Mufti of the Republic of Singapore
On December 13, 2010, PZAS was represented by 8 members, at the Dinner reception that was held at the Raffles Town Club. This reception organized by the Inter Religious Organisation, (IRO) Singapore, was held in honor of Mr Syed Isa Semait, Mufti of the Republic of Singapore. He was honored for holding the position of Mufti of Singapore for 37 years.
Mr Syed Hassan Alattas (Imam of Ba’alwi Mosque) mentioned that Syed Isa’ s 37 year tenure was probably the longest in South east Asia. Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Zainul Abidin Rasheed and IRO president Mr Tan Thiam Lye presented the award to Syed Isa.
The Mufti then shared a few words of wisdom with one and all, expressing his gratitude to the IRO for hosting the dinner, and to all the speakers for their kind words and wishes.
