Navroze Function
Spring is here and to usher in the season in typical Navrooz style, our Association held it's annual contributory lunch on Sunday 21st March 2010 at the Crystal Ballroom of the Hotel Holiday Inn Park View.
The function was a big success, kicked off by an hour long AGM. The festivities were brought in by the beautiful spread of the Navrooz table and traditional Navrooz rituals at the table. We then witnessed the distribution of award certificates to many deserving children in the fields of academics, music and sports, as well as the felicitation of parents and their newborn babies.
Thereafter, we introduced a lovely concept, rather intrinsic to Iran and other parts of the world but still new to us here...
We welcomed UNCLE NAVROZE.
Our genial uncle distributed sweets and Ang Pau's (traditional Chinese 'Sagan na Parika') to all the children who were present
and needless to say the little ones were thrilled.
We also introduced all present to our new President Mrs. Dilnawaz Zaveri and the new Committee (of course with some veterans still on board). Mrs. Zaveri takes over from Mr. Russi Ghadiali who, upon completing his two year stint as President - and an excellent one at that - voluntarily stepped down. Mrs. Zaveri was elected as per the PZAS succession planning passed at the AGM of 21st March 2008.
The lunch was sumptious and so were the desserts. There was an air of merriment and good cheer and laughter was ringing through the air... everywhere and we are delighted to say that we had a huge turnout.
We hope the New Year brings in every happiness, peace and love to each and every one and may we all live in harmony and see our wishes fulfilled.
