Jaswant Singh lauds the role played by Parses

Parsi community has never been afflicted by the sense of minoritysm and had remarkably contributed to the every possible sphere of the national life, Union Finance Minister Jaswant Singh said in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Speaking at the function to release a commemorative five-rupee coin on Dadabhai Naoroji, Singh said the community has excelled in every possible sphere of the national life.

He recounted the contribution of doyens produced by the Parsi community including Field Marshall Sam Maneckshaw and Dr Homi Bhabha.

Singh said Naoroji, whose career spanned in the 19th century, had moved ahead of time and thought about the education of women.

Maharashtra Governor Mohammed Fazal said the Zoarastrian culture had been there for last 3000 years and would be there for long time to come.
